3 Mind-Boggling Facts You Didn’t Know About Chocolate
If you’ve been struggling, trying to avoid chocolate on your Ketogenic diet, we’ve got great news for you. There’s no need to avoid it!
You can eat chocolate on your Keto diet, as long as you pay attention to what kind of chocolate it is. Did you know white chocolate isn’t really chocolate, at all? It’s a chocolate derivative, made of cocoa butter.
We have come up with a huge variety of Ketogenic chocolate recipes that will make you smack your lips! How about Chocolate Almond Keto Fat Bombs, for example? Or Keto Chocolate Fudge, perhaps?
Before we make you drool all over the screen, here are some pretty interesting and surprising facts about chocolate:
1. A Cocoa Pod Is A Fruit
Yes, it’s a fruit called Theobroma cacao, and cocoa beans are actually dried and fully fermented seeds of this fruit.
You need about 400 dried cocoa beans to make one pound of chocolate. One cocoa pod contains approximately 30 to 40 seeds - that’s a whole lotta pickin’ just to make a pound of chocolate!
2. Eating Too Much Chocolate Can Be Lethal
As the name of the fruit suggests, cocoa beans contain a compound called theobromine. It is what makes chocolate (especially dark chocolate) poisonous to dogs, but what many of us don’t know is that it can kill a human, too.
You don’t have to be too worried about that, though. A lethal dose of chocolate would be about 10 kilograms - I don’t think anyone could eat all that in one go. Not even if they were enjoying these awesome Keto Chocolate Brownies!
3. Chocolate Has Various Health Benefits
Yes; including chocolate in your Keto diet could be good for you! Of course, overconsumption of any ingredient is never a good idea, but a piece or two of dark chocolate every day could have positive effects on your health. (1)
Besides all the great health benefits, every chocoholic knows it’s the flavor that makes us love chocolate so much. One of my concerns before I started a low carb or Ketogenic diet was how I would be able to live without chocolate.
I’m glad I looked into it, before jumping into conclusions or leaving chocolate completely out of my diet. The recipes we are sharing with you here will help you show everyone that being on a Ketogenic diet doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy delicious treats!
These snacks and desserts will be loved by everyone, even if they’re not on a Keto diet.
