Our Favorite Keto Chicken Recipes

Here are 3 things to keep in mind about chicken and your keto diet...

1.  Chicken is Keto-Friendly, BUT...

Chicken - like other meats - has almost no carbs, and it's nutritious. However, chicken is pretty low in fat (almost entirely protein). And on a keto diet, it's important to get enough fat at meals. That way you have plenty of energy (fat) to burn, and you don't get tired or hungry.

Some parts of chicken are fattier than others (skin and dark meat). But you'll also notice in the recipes below that we often add fat to the recipe - for example, coconut oil, olive oil, or coconut cream. This not only gives your body fat for fuel, but it also keeps the dish moist and flavorful.

2.  All of Our Recipes are also Low-Inflammatory and Paleo

As opposed to many other keto recipes, you'll notice that we avoid all ingredients that commonly cause inflammation and related health issues. We do this because we want our recipes to help you stay healthy in addition to being keto and losing weight.

Along those lines, everything is gluten-free (no grains at all), dairy-free (no cheese, cream, etc.), and free of bad oils (canola, vegetable, corn, safflower, etc.). But don't worry - I promise from years of first-hand experience that our recipes still taste delicious and amazing.

Also, we include the carb-count for every recipe and make sure that the percentage of carbs in any dish is well within a range that will keep you in ketosis.

3.  Quick Tips for Chicken as a Keto Food

Save Money and Buy Whole Chickens. To save money and also get the healthiest parts of the chicken, try to buy whole chickens - it's cheaper than just the breast and also gives you the tastier, fattier parts.

It Matters Which Chicken You Buy. If you can, try to buy from a farmer or brand that you know treats its chickens well - for two reasons. First, just because it's the nice thing to do. Second, though, because you'll usually get a chicken that is both fresher and tastier than factory-farmed chickens.

Be Safe. It's just worth repeating that chicken definitely needs to be cooked thoroughly. In the US, the minimum recommended internal temperature is 165 degrees (F).
