This keto stove-top bone broth is easy to make on winter weekends when it’s convenient to be home and near the stove.

Tips for Better Bone Broth

You know how a lot of foods get better when they’re roasted? Not surprisingly, roasting the bones you use in your broth can elevate its flavor.

If you’re rolling your eyes in protest at adding extra time to a recipe that already has a long lead time, I hear you. You can skip the step, but it won’t be as flavorful.

Before you begin, make sure you’ve got a large enough pot. That little thing you use on the side burner to heat up leftovers isn’t going to cut it.

Obviously, if you’ve got extra large bones or some that are oddly configured, you are going to figure this out pretty quickly. You want the solid ingredients to be covered with water. Don’t be afraid to add more as you go.

While some people throw this on to let it cook overnight, I’m a little wary of an unwatched stove, so I make this during the day.

If you’re looking for a broth that doesn’t take quite so long, think about doing chicken or turkey bones instead. You can also use an instant pot.

Instant Pot Broth

I wanted to make this recipe as an alternative for people who don’t have an instant pot. If you do have an instant pot, check out this keto bone broth recipe.

While it won’t be ready instantly (bummer), you will significantly reduce the amount of time it takes for the bones to break down into a broth.

While this stove-top version will take about six hours, you can get it done in about two hours in the instant pot.

It’s a nice kitchen toy for busy cooks!

Where Do I Get Two Pounds of Bones?

The butcher shop is your best source, but you can also find them on the internet.

Sometimes you can coordinate making bone broth after you’ve had a big meaty meal, so you can use your own bones.

Grass-fed beef bones are ideal, but you have to work with what you can find and afford.
