Keto 5-Ingredient Coconut Flour Cookies
Coconut flour is easily one of my all-time favorite Keto ingredients. Besides the fact that it is a handy replacement for traditional flour in so many recipes, it also offers so much added flavor. This inspired me to create something that would feature the unique ingredient – you know, kind of like Iron Chef.
To make something that would allow the flavor to shine through of something as subtle as flour I couldn’t put too many ingredients in that would overshadow it. Luckily, that also means that throwing this recipe together is a breeze. These Keto 5-ingredient coconut flour cookies came out even better than I had anticipated.
What Is Coconut Flour?
Coconut flour is pretty much what it sounds like. It is dehydrated coconut meat that has had all of the fat rendered out of it. The results of which have offered an excellent alternative to flours that are much higher in carb content.
Coconut flour is high in fiber and low in carbs. In fact, 2 tablespoons of coconut flour has 5 grams of fiber and just 8 grams of carbs. Which makes it one of the best options for a Keto diet. It doesn’t hurt that it actually has some flavor as opposed to an all-purpose white flour.
Five Ingredient Magic
Everybody seems to be intimidated by baking. I get it, there are a lot of specific rules to follow, and one wrong turn could be a catastrophe. It’s no surprise that most of us will fail miserably on our first attempt at making a cake or a loaf of bread.
However, baking does not have to be that complicated. There are plenty of easy to follow recipes for breads, brownies, and especially cookies. It is kind of shocking that something as wonderful as a cookie only require a few ingredients. You will soon find out for yourself what kind of magic five ingredients can do.
A Few Options For Add-Ins
With this recipe as easy as it is, it also gives us the option to add in some additional elements to take the cookie even further. Here are a few Keto friendly options for you to throw in your next dough:
- Shredded unsweetened coconut
- Cocoa
- Unsweetened dark chocolate chips
- Almonds
- Cashews
- Orange extract
