I love making this tea at home. The tough part is finding fresh turmeric to use in it – you can find it in some health stores or in many Whole Foods Markets.

Turmeric

If you’ve never seen turmeric fresh before, it looks a bit like ginger, except they tend to grow into much smaller finger-like stumps. When you peel the outside, you’ll find it looks very orange in color and that color can really stain your hands or your clothes so be careful when using it.

Turmeric is considered a powerful anti-inflammatory food, and many people have started taking it as a supplement. It’s also a crucial ingredient in many dishes, including Indian curries.

And here are the other 2 ingredients in the tea:

Ginger

This root vegetable is pretty common these days. I love using the fresh root to flavor soups and sautes and to add a slightly spicy and warming taste to teas.

Lime

I find the lime flavor goes really well with ginger and turmeric, but if you don’t have any lime handy, then lemon works too.

How to make Turmeric Ginger Lime Tea

This tea is really easy to make. Just peel one piece of turmeric (about the size of your small finger), and then cut it into small slices. Cut up the ginger to a similar size, peel it and slice it up as well. Then take the lime and slice it into large slices.

Place all the ginger and turmeric pieces along with one slices of lime into a teapot.

Fill the pot up with boiling hot water.

Let it brew for 5 minutes before serving. If you want, you can add the other slices of lime into the tea cups when serving. You can also add more hot water into the tea pot to make multiple pots of tea – just switch out the lime slice for a new slice.

You can also make this tea iced by letting it cool and then adding ice to each glass.
