You might have thought that homemade gummy bears were difficult or messy to make but the process is as easy as making ice cubes. You simply prepare the liquid, dissolve the gelatin and sweetener, pour into molds, and chill until set. These gummies are multi-layered with lime and mint for a fresh tropical flavor. The MCT powder is optional but it adds a great boost to these gummies, making them perfect for a quick energy boost between meals.
MCT Oil vs MCT Powder
MCT stands for Medium Chain Triglyceride. MCTs occur naturally in certain fats including coconut oil and ghee. MCTs can also be found in supplement form, as MCT oil.
MCT oil is an oil which is specially formulated to give you maximum MCT bang for your buck. It can be added to smoothies, used in salad dressings, or even added to cake! It should not be used to sauté meat or vegetables as It has a low smoke point compared to other oils such as coconut oil.
MCT powder is simply a powdered form of MCT oil. It is convenient and easy to transport. However, MCT powder is made using a carrier, which can be problematic for those following a Keto diet. Make sure that you check the label to confirm that your MCT powder is Keto-friendly and doesn’t contain ingredients like glucose or maltodextrin. Buying MCT powder formulated for those on a Keto diet ensures that you won’t get any surprises in the ingredient list.
