There are two types of people in this world: those who love dressings (and sauces) and those who don’t. I am one who happens to love dressings, and my recipe for Turmeric Tahini Salad Dressing is my absolute favorite.
The main ingredient in my Turmeric Tahini Salad Dressing is tahini, which is simply sesame seed butter. This gives the dressing a slight nutty flavor very similar to peanut butter. However, if you don’t have tahini in your pantry, just scroll down to find a few substitutes that you can use instead.
Plus, the dressing has turmeric that is not only delicious but also good for your health.
How To Modify the Recipe
My Turmeric Tahini Salad Dressing can be made with ingredients that you might already have in your pantry. However, if you don’t have all of these ingredients, there are a few substitutions that you can use, and the recipe will still taste amazing.
Instead of tahini, you can use almond butter, sunflower seed butter (or sunbutter as it’s also called), or cashew butter. However, we don’t recommend peanut butter as a substitute.
Lime juice is a delicious alternative to lemon juice. Apple cider vinegar can be used as well but only add 1 Tablespoon (15 ml) to the recipe since the flavor is more intense than lemon juice.
You can use 1 or even 2 finely minced garlic cloves instead of garlic powder. Just add 1 garlic clove and then taste the dressing to decide if you want to add more garlic.
If you are avoiding nightshades, you can leave out the black pepper completely.
Also, if you don’t have a blender, you can still easily make my Turmeric Tahini Salad Dressing with very little elbow grease required.
Just whisk half the tahini with all of the remaining ingredients. Once fully combined, whisk in the remaining tahini until the dressing is smooth.
Ways to Enjoy Turmeric Tahini Salad Dressing
The thing I love the most about this dressing (other than the taste, of course) is how versatile it is!
Of course, my Turmeric Tahini Salad Dressing can be used with your favorite salad. Just add a few additional tablespoons of water until the dressing is thin and can be easily poured.
You can use the dressing as a delicious sauce to toss with your favorite keto pasta to add a little zing to your meal.
Add the tahini and water to a blender and blend until light and creamy.
Add the remaining ingredients to the blender and blend until fully combined. If needed, add additional water, 1 Tablespoon (15 ml) at a time, until desired consistency is achieved.
Refrigerate any leftover dressing in an airtight container.
