Egg salad is one of those classic dishes that most of us were raised on. It has been a staple for a quick lunch for generations of parents. I would be shocked if you told me you didn’t have an egg salad recipe that was part of your childhood. Everybody has their own way of making it, and everyone has certain ingredients that are a must.
On the other hand, sometimes it is great to explore and try an egg salad that isn’t the same way you have been eating it all of your life. There are plenty of ways to get your hard boiled eggs ready for an egg salad. Even cooking the eggs, I know that some people prefer to have the yolks completely cooked, while others prefer if there is still some brightness to them. If you want them a bit softer 4-5 minutes in boiling water will do. For a wholly cooked yolk, aim for 7-9 minutes.
Then there is how you like it chopped. Many people enjoy dicing the hard-boiled egg for a nice chunk to their salad mix. However, I would recommend trying to grate the egg on a cheese grater. This makes for a great consistency to an egg salad. Of course, it is all up to you.

There Are So Many Things That Can Go in Egg Salad
As I said, everyone has an egg salad recipe, and with that comes a whole slew of ingredients that work well in any mix. Here are a few Keto ingredients that you can try the next time you make a batch of this special mix:
- Green Onion
- Lemon Juice
- Smoked Paprika
- Curry Powder
Change things up from boring to special.
- 4 eggs
- 2 Tablespoons bacon bits
- 1 stalk of celery, chopped
- 2 Tablespoons (30 ml) mayo, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons (10 ml) mustard
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Hard boil the eggs. Cool them by running them under cold water and then peel.
- Chop the eggs into small pieces.
- Toss with all the other ingredients and season with salt and pepper, to taste.
