Shrimp are a life-saver when I need to get dinner on the table in a hurry. Whether grilled on the BBQ or sautéed in a pan, I can get an elegant shrimp dish ready within minutes. Available in a variety of sizes and styles at the grocery store, shrimp are an easy way to boost any dish’s protein content.

Shrimp can also be a great way to get the minerals you need on Keto. Naturopathic physician and Sports Nutritionist Dr. Marc Bubbs, ND, CISSN, says, “If you’re starting up (or already following) a keto diet, it’s important to make sure you keep your electrolytes in balance; boost sodium levels by adding Sea salt to meals and a bone broth drink, and keep potassium and magnesium levels up via nuts and seeds, dark leafy greens, fish and shellfish.”

We’ve put together a list of our favorite Keto shrimp recipes, whether it’s a Thai-inspired shrimp soup with coconut and lime flavors or an easy shrimp and cauliflower salad. These Keto shrimp recipes will inspire you to make a beeline for the seafood section on your next trip to the market!

Here are just a few of the Keto Shrimp Recipes that Sizzle we’ve included:

Ingredients: shrimp, cauliflower, carrot, avocado oil, gluten-free tamari sauce, sesame oil, garlic, spring onions, salt.

Fried rice dishes make a lovely light meal to enjoy during the week as they are quick and easy to get ready after a busy day and can be full of flavor. Cauliflower rice is a great substitute for white rice as it is much more easily digested and does not cause bloating. It also tastes good with shrimp which add the meaty note to this dish and it can be quite cheap too since you can use frozen shrimp.

– Healing Autoimmune

35 Keto Shrimp Recipes that Sizzle

Ingredients: shrimp, onion, garlic, cauliflower, carrots, green onions, avocado oil, coconut aminos, salt.

One of the best things about fried ‘rice’ meals is that they can be versatile – use whatever vegetables you have and add in shrimp or any other meat. It can be a great way to use up leftover chicken or pork from a roast dinner, but for a lighter option the shrimp fits the bill! Adding the coconut aminos adds a lovely Asian flavor to the dish and it is now readily available.

It has a salty taste and a lightly crunchy texture and works so well with seafood. Stir-frying is a great way to use samphire as you don’t want to overcook it. Ingredients: eggs, coconut flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, preferred seasoning (optional), shrimp, unsweetened shredded coconut.

It may come as a bit of a surprise, but the flavors of coconut and shrimp go so well together! The coconut crisps up when it is deep-fried and gives the shrimp a lovely crispy shell. This is another recipe that would make great party food, or you could serve these with a crisp salad for lunch. You don’t need to invest in a deep-fryer – just pour some oil in a deep pan but keep an eye on the temperature!

Paleo Thai Coconut Lime Shrimp

– PaleOMG

Ingredients: shrimp, coconut milk, egg whites, coconut flour, unsweetened shredded coconut, yellow curry powder, cayenne pepper, sriracha, sea salt, black pepper, garlic, coconut oil, lime juice.

This dish would be great served at a Thai-inspired dinner as it has a lot of the traditional Thai flavors from the coconut, curry and lime, and citrus sets off any seafood perfectly! If you find the coconut won’t stick very well you could dip the shrimp in egg, flour and egg again before dusting it with coconut. This should give a good covering before you add the sauce ingredients.

This ‘breading’ gives a lovely crisp coating to the seafood and, served with a spicy mayo that you can make as spicy as you like and some fresh crunchy salad, this would be perfect for a summer lunch. The coating described here would also work with chicken strips.

Ingredients: coconut oil, fish sauce, fresh lime juice, garlic, broccoli slaw, carrots, salad shrimp, fresh cilantro, green onions, roasted unsalted cashews.

Pad Thai is a popular dish of vegetables, shrimp or chicken, often served in Thailand as street food. Like with many Thai dishes, the focus is on fresh flavors and the freshest vegetables available. It tastes better if the vegetables are cooked al dente, then they seem to carry the flavors of the fish sauce and lime really well. Ingredients: cauliflower, raw shrimp, olive oil, cucumbers, fresh dill, olive oil, fresh lemon juice, lemon zest, salt, pepper.

We all know that cauliflower makes a great substitute for white rice, but in this recipe it is used in place of orzo pasta! Brilliant! It also uses dill which has the perfect aniseed flavor to set off the seafood. If you can store this overnight in the refrigerator, you will find that the flavors improve, so this would be a great idea to take with you for lunch to make your colleagues envious!

This also gives the meal a lovely tropical flavor and along with the cool cucumber and creamy avocado, this makes a delicious summery meal. This can also be served instead of shrimp cocktail as an appetizer for a dinner party, simply spooned over shredded lettuce.

You have a wonderful combination of textures from the meaty shrimp and the toasted coconut flakes and the lemongrass adds a freshness to the dish. If you don’t want to eat the lemongrass, you can bruise it, add it to the pan and then remove it before serving.

Once the shrimp has cooked, set aside and use the oil remaining to cook your accompaniment, for example zucchini noodles. You can add in herbs to boost the flavor or keep it real clean and eat it as it is.

Shrimp is a fabulous ingredient to serve with paleo pasta as it gives a real diversity if texture to the dish. It also gives you a lighter option than using beef and could even be spiced up a bit if you like with the addition of some chili flakes. And of course we all know how well lemon goes with fish! You can use a mandolin to cut the zucchini or even a simple potato peeler.

Ingredients: coconut oil, salt, freshly cracked black pepper, shrimp, white onion or large shallots, Romano tomatoes, coconut milk, garlic, ginger, thai bird chilies, Kashmiri chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt, curry leaves.

This curry recipe has its roots in Indian cuisine and uses a lot of the traditional Indian spices, from coriander and ginger to turmeric which has a lot of health benefits. In fact, we created our own Turmeric Soothe supplement, for those who love the benefits of turmeric but don’t eat it every day.

It can be made as spicy as you like, since shrimp can carry the heat from chilis really well. This would be a wonderful warming plateful to serve on a chilly day.

Ingredients: extra-large raw tiger shrimp, garlic, ghee, chicken stock, fresh lemon juice, salt, ground black pepper, fresh parsley or cilantro.

Garlic and lemon is such a popular flavor combo and the shrimp can really take these strong flavors! If you find tiger prawns are a bit too expensive you can use smaller ones, or even frozen ones, just defrost them first before cooking. This dish could be served over cauliflower rice, with zucchini noodles, or just as it is! One tip – keep an eye on the garlic as it can burn quite easily.

Paleo Panang Curry

– Paleo Effect

35 Keto Shrimp Recipes that Sizzle

Photo Credit: Meghan & Angel from The Paleo Effect

When you read the list of ingredients here it can be a bit off-putting – maybe you can’t get some of the items. No need to worry as there are plenty of others you can sub for ones you can’t find! This curry has a mild sauce, but if you like the heat ramped up you can add in the seeds from the chilis. This curry tastes amazing on its own or it can be served with cauliflower rice for a more substantial meal.
