3 Tips For Making Your Lunch Break Keto-Friendly
It’s not always easy to find the time for a nice lunch break if you’re busy with your work or taking care of your children. These delish lunches for work are meant to help you maintain a healthy Ketogenic diet - without compromising on flavor or your schedule.
Time is of the essence, more often than I’d like to admit. I want my lunch to be quick and easy, so that I won’t skip the meal completely or choose an unhealthy option. (If you’re interested in super easy low carb recipes, we have a great collection for you here.)
These recipes have helped me through some of the busiest times of my life - I know you’ll fall in love with these, too!
1. Smart People Plan Their Ketogenic Meals Ahead
Granted, some days don’t leave much room for planning, but that’s exactly why it’s so important. When I got started on Keto, I wanted to do everything I could to stick to my diet.
These small details will help you with your Ketogenic diet:
a. Create a meal plan for your work week lunches. I do this every Sunday; I simply write down what I want to eat for lunch each day, and I often include some of the recipes below as part of my Keto lunch prep. Then I make a shopping list for the ingredients I need, and I pick those up the same evening.
b. Take the easy route and download a free Keto meal plan that is all done and ready for you. This is great if you don’t want to spend any time on Sunday worrying about what to eat for the upcoming week.
c. Prepare ingredients ahead of time, if possible. If you need to chop vegetables or pre-cook meat, chicken or fish, do that in large batches and store in the refrigerator or freezer. I love making a double batch of one of these Ketogenic chicken salads - my husband and I both get to take a yummy lunch to work for the next couple of days, and we know exactly how many carbs are in it. Lunch prep makes low carb lunches for work a breeze.
2. Or Don’t Cook At All! Keto-Friendly Restaurants Are The Bomb
Sometimes there is no time for cooking, but that’s ok! Eating out on Keto doesn’t mean you’re going to have a cheat day, or that you’ll have to pick out the bad ingredients from your lunch dish.
Download our free guide to find out which restaurants in your neighborhood are Keto-friendly. If some of your favorite restaurants aren’t on the list, ask about their menu to see what is Keto-friendly.
If there’s a cafeteria at your work, go talk to the staff to see if they have Ketogenic options, or if they could prepare you a steak salad for lunch each day.
3. Dinner Leftovers Make A Great Ketogenic Lunch The Next Day
One of my favorite things to do is make enough food for dinner to have leftovers. Keto soups only get better after a day or two. And if you really don’t have any spare time, try one of our amazing Keto crockpot recipes. It doesn’t get any easier than that!
Leftovers can be your secret to easy Keto lunches any day of the week or when you know you need a good Keto lunch on the go.
