The Most Common Mistakes People Make When Choosing a Keto Entree - And How To Avoid Them

If you’re just getting started with Keto, you may have concerns about what you can eat and what is not Keto-friendly. People tend to think whenever they start a diet, they only have a few options they have to cook over and over again.

But you’ll soon realize Keto isn’t like that, at all. You can enjoy a great variety of delicious and easy-to-make Keto recipes, including plenty of ingredients you’ve always used, as long as you pay attention to some important details.

There are a few very common mistakes, though, that people often make in the beginning. This is what you should be aware of when choosing your entree:

Beware of Anything In Packages 

In general, prepackaged foods contain sugar, wheat, and chemicals you can’t even pronounce.  So, stick to pure real foods if you can. And if you have to buy something in a package, make sure you read the ingredients carefully.

If particular, watch out for:

  • Added sugar.  This can take many names...from honey, to dextrose, to corn syrup.  You’ll even find added sugar in pizza sauces.
  • Added gluten.  Often wheat flour or other non-Keto flours are added into canned soups and sauces.
  • Anything breaded.  From chicken tenders to fish fingers.  Don’t buy these at the store. Make your own Keto versions instead.  Try making your own Keto “breading” from pork rinds or seasoned shredded coconut.

Meat Doesn’t Have To Be Grass-Fed To Be Keto 

If grass-fed meat is available, then great! But it’s not necessary; regular meat is just as good for your Ketogenic diet.

What you should pay attention to, instead, are the seasoned and marinated meats. They often include things like honey, sugar and gluten.
