Important Tips For Making Keto Desserts

If you’re new to Keto, sugar cravings can be a nightmare. And even if your sweet tooth is under control, sometimes you just want to indulge. Luckily for you, there are several options for low carb sweets without the guilt.

1.  Bake with Keto-friendly flours 

When creating Keto treats, make sure you’re using low carb flours instead of high carb, gluten-filled wheat flour.  Rice flour, oat flour, and other flours made from grains are also a big no-no on a Keto diet.

Instead, choose one of these low carb flours:

  • Almond Flour (our favorite!)
  • Coconut Flour
  • Flaxseed Meal

When choosing a flour, you have to consider what effect it will have on the consistency of what you’re baking. Coconut flour and almond flour are most popular for this reason - they act most similar to regular flour.

2.  Only Use Keto sweeteners 

Removing all sugar from your Keto diet can sometimes feel like you’ve given up all things sweet, but it’s not true! There are Keto-friendly sweeteners out there that won’t throw off your diet.

We recommend sticking with these 4 low carb sweeteners:

  • Stevia
  • Erythritol
  • Swerve

The above sweeteners are great substitutes for sugar and come in a variety of formats (crystals, powder, liquid) so you can use them in just about any dessert recipes you are making.

Our favorite sweetener of choice is Stevia. Stevia is a natural substance that is great for baking. It can have a slight aftertaste that some people dislike, so it’s best used with strong flavors like cinnamon.  Or else mix some stevia with some erythritol. The erythritol will cover up the stevia taste and the addition of stevia means you can use less erythritol.

3.  Fat Bombs Are The BEST Keto Desserts 

Sometimes cravings strike when you aren’t prepared - or when you just don’t have time to bake. Enter the Keto Fat Bomb.

These tasty little bites pack a real punch of flavor while staying low in carbs and high in fat.

They are also crazy easy to throw together. And if you have a pantry stocked for Keto, you probably have some of these on hand.

You need three ingredients to start making your own fat bombs:

1. Healthy fats

You can’t have a fat bomb without the fat. But you can’t have just any fat and stay ketogenic. We recommend using one of these Keto fats in your fat bomb recipe:

2. Flavoring

3. Texture
