It's amazing how just a little bit of advance planning can go such a long way.

And while many of us might meal prep or meal plan for dinner every weekend, we often forget to do that for breakfasts.

You don't need to cook anything elaborate.  Here are 4 simple Keto breakfast ideas to make in advance and store in the freezer ready to reheat each morning:

1. KETO BREAKFAST CASSEROLE

Casseroles are just stews made in the oven.  And Keto breakfast casseroles are just casseroles using Keto breakfast ingredients like eggs, sausages, and bacon.  

They are so easy to make you might be surprised why you hadn't been making these before.

Just add all your ingredients into a large baking pan and bake for 40-60 minutes until it's all cooked.  If you eat cheese on Keto, then you can also top with some shredded cheese.

Plus, a Keto breakfast casserole can also double up as a ready-made dinner entree!

Quick Tip: make sure you slice these Keto breakfast casseroles up into individual portions before freezing them.

2. KETO BREAKFAST MUFFINS AND BAGELS

Who doesn't love muffins or bagels?  And for breakfast?  Yes, please!

You can make a large batch of these and simply reheat in the microwave for a Keto breakfast on the go.  From savory muffins like bacon lemon thyme Keto breakfast muffins to sweet treats like chocolate chip Keto breakfast muffins.

3. KETO EGG MUFFINS

2.  Learn To LOVE Keto Breakfast Smoothies

Smoothies are such a fast, easy, and nutritious Keto breakfast idea.  But we always get asked about a few pesky smoothie ingredients...

Are bananas good for Keto?

Unfortunately no, because bananas are very high in carbs.  So avoid bananas in your Keto smoothies!

Are carrots good for Keto?

It depends.  100 grams of carrots contain less than 7 net grams of carbs.  So a few Tablespoons of grated carrots won't bump your carb count up too much.  But just watch out you don't use too much.

Is yogurt allowed on Ketogenic diet?

Full-fat dairy yogurt (like other forms of dairy can be super nutritious).  Unsweetened full-fat Greek yogurt is also low in carbs and high in fats. 

Unfortunately, many people have hidden lactose or casein intolerances that make yogurt very problematic.  It can lead to chronic inflammation as well as digestive issues.  That's why we don't recommend eating regular yogurt on a Ketogenic diet.  

However, coconut yogurt is an amazing dairy-free Keto alternative (especially for adding into Keto smoothies).

Add These Low Carb, Paleo, Keto Ingredients Into Your Keto Breakfast Shake:

There are lots of keto-friendly ingredients that are low in carbs but still add tons of flavor to your Keto breakfast shake (or smoothie).  These ingredients are also Paleo approved (since there's no dairy).

So, here's our list of Keto smoothie ingredients...

Keto Smoothies
  • unsweetened cacao or cocoa powder
  • unsweetened coconut milk or almond milk
  • unsweetened coconut yogurt
  • coconut oil or MCT oil
  • small handful of berries
  • nuts (like Brazil nuts, macadamia nuts, almonds)
  • seeds (like chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds)
  • ginger and turmeric (fresh or as powders)
  • nut butters
  • vanilla extract
  • avocado slices
  • stevia or erythritol for sweetening your Keto smoothies (only use stevia for Paleo diets)
  • cacao nibs for topping
  • shredded coconut or coconut flakes for topping
  • shaved 100% dark chocolate topping for topping

3.  Intermittent Fasting and Keto Coffee

If you're not familiar with intermittent fasting, it's pretty much what it sounds like...fasting for short periods of time.

For many people, they might skip breakfast or lunch or dinner and eat within an 8-hour window each day.

So one option to make mornings easier for yourself is to do intermittent fasting and start eating around lunch-time.

If that sounds too horrific to consider, then how about a fat filled Keto coffee instead for breakfast?  If you don't drink coffee, then don't worry, you can drink a Keto tea instead.

Keto Fast Food Breakfast

With so many options for Keto breakfast recipes on this page (and our tips for making breakfast ahead of time), I hope you won't need to drive through a fast food restaurant like Taco Bells or McDonald's to get breakfast.  Their breakfast menu is mostly breakfast sandwiches, hash browns, and potatoes, and other high carb, highly processed foods.

But in case you really run out of time, here are a few Keto fast food breakfast options:

  • McDonald’s Sausage McMuffin with Egg.  This is a pretty popular breakfast sandwich from McDonald's.  Just remove the bun (and skip the cheese if you can).
  • Taco Bell's Mini Skillet Bowl.  Just omit the potatoes.
  • The Steak & Egg Breakfast Burrito from Carl's Jr.  You have to skip the tortillas.
