Keto Philly Roll [Dairy-Free]
This isn’t an ordinary Philly roll – it’s better. This low-carb keto Philly roll is a delicious way to please party guests.
What is a Philly Roll?
Short for Philadelphia Roll, Philly Rolls are a type of sushi. These rolls feature salmon, cream cheese, and cucumber.
The “Philadelphia” in the name references the popular brand of cream cheese, as well as the area where the roll was invented.
Madame Saito, the woman behind the roll, moved to Philadelphia from Japan because she wanted her sons to attend the University of Pennsylvania.
They did, and Saito and her husband opened up successful restaurants, including a sushi bar.
The “Queen of Sushi” shares her expertise with the locals, so you can even take a class with the genius behind the Philly Roll!
How to Make a Keto Philly Roll
Traditional sushi rolls present a problem for those of us living the keto lifestyle. All of that rice is a big issue for ketosis.
One way to overcome that would be to try making Philly Rolls with cauliflower rice. That’s not the route we chose for this recipe, but it’s certainly a viable option.
Your other alternative is to use the salmon as the exterior of the wrap.
If you want more of a traditional Philly roll and you’re not sensitive to dairy, you can use cream cheese for this recipe.
The rest of us will want to use cashew cheese, a lovely non-dairy option when a spreadable cheese is desired.
Make sure you give yourself time, though – to make cashew cheese the nuts need to soak overnight.
Once you’ve got your cashew cheese (or cream cheese) this recipe is easy peasy!
Spread the cheese on top of your smoked salmon, add thin slices of cucumber, and roll them up!
Toothpicks might be helpful to hold your wraps together.

Instructions
- Place the smoked salmon slices on a piece of parchment paper.
- Spread 1/2 an ounce of cashew cheese on each slice of salmon. Top each with 3 thin slices of cucumber.
- Roll up the salmon slices, starting at the bottom.
