Keto Mustard-Seared Bacon Burgers
There are so many diets that will tell you to put away the burgers and pick up the salads. Thankfully, the Keto diet is not one of them. Though salads are super healthy, and I would recommend eating as many leafy greens as possible, it doesn’t mean we have to put away old favorites for good. To the contrary, you can still enjoy a juicy burger for dinner if you feel like it.
Maybe we have to put the bun away, but what was it doing for us anyway? It really just gave us a way to hold a burger in our hands without getting them greasy. This mustard-seared bacon burger gives us all the best parts that we miss from a great burger. There is no reason why you need to pass up on this meal for your next dinner.
The Fun of Making Burgers
I don’t know about you, but making burgers from scratch is one of my favorite things to do in the kitchen. There is no end to the ingredients that you can toss in to create unique and fun flavors. You get to get your hands in there and let yourself get a little messy. Then you get to form out the shape, which can be so satisfying. Finally, you get to cook them up, whether on the grill or in a frying pan, the burgers get such a nice sear on the outside your mouth can’t help but water.
Cooking isn’t supposed to be stressful. When you throw this recipe together, take your time and have some fun.
Burgers Aren’t Just For Summer
Yes, unfortunately, summer is over. But, that does not mean that we have to put away all of our summertime favorites. Sure, maybe the barbecue needs to be packed away before the snow starts rolling in. And, it is perhaps a bit too chilly to be sharing dinner out on the patio. But, burgers can be enjoyed anytime. Cook these delicious patties up and have a picnic indoors this fall.
What Else Can I Add to These Burgers
I mentioned earlier that burgers can be so fun to make because of the endless possibilities of ingredients that you can put inside of them. This burger is made with bacon and mustard, and honestly what can sound better than that? But, many Keto ingredients can be used to take your burgers to another level.
Here are a few ideas on what to mix into your burgers to get you started:
- Nut butters – yes, I am serious, try it
- Fresh herbs
This delicious gourmet burger is sure to be a hit.
- 1/2 red onion, diced
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1 avocado, sliced
- Cook the bacon in a pan until crispy. Keep the bacon grease in the pan and place the bacon bits into a bowl with the raw ground beef. Season with salt and pepper.
- Form into 6 patties.
- Pan-fry on high heat the 6 burger patties – make sure to sear them to get great color on the outside. You can also grill these.
- At the end, smear 1 Tablespoon of mustard on each patty and sear the patty with the mustard-side down in the pan.
- To make the sauce, mix all the sauce ingredients together.
- Spread a layer of sauce on each burger patty, and top with slices of onions, tomato and avocado.
