The only way to make these brownies better than they are is to source out the best ingredients. I am fortunate to have some top quality cocoa powder and vanilla extract in my pantry. I have to say that you would be surprised at the difference between a high-end brand and the no-name brand at the grocery store.

It’s not as difficult to find quality ingredients as you would think. I recommend hitting up local farmers markets, there can often be sellers who import the best of the best. Specialty shops are always a good source for high-end ingredients. Trust me when I say it is worth paying the higher price for the better vanilla.

This may be a simple brownie recipe, but that also opens the door to play around and add some of your own personal favorite flavors. Brownies are great in so many ways, and when I make a batch I like to cut it in half and make a couple of different styles.
