Cooking is not supposed to feel like a complex scientific formula that requires the whole day to put together. Sure, at times it is a lot of fun to put a big meal together with a lot of elements that requires some special skills. However, most of the time that just isn’t sustainable.

This Keto cabbage and bacon stew recipe is ideal for throwing together any night of the week. Using only a few ingredients, this Eastern European inspired dish will take only minutes to get prepared, then you can let the food do the rest of the work.

The Magic of Cooking Eastern European

There are so many cultures that are celebrated for their cuisine. When we talk about food, there are six major cultures that dominate, French, American, Asian, Mexican, Italian and Middle Eastern. Most the restaurants and cookbooks are in one of these six groups, with variants occurring every so often. However, there is one cuisine that I feel has always gone underappreciated, Eastern European. I mean, how come there aren’t more perogy and cabbage roll restaurants?

The truth of the matter is Eastern European has mastered one thing really well, the home cooked comfort meal. If you have ever had the opportunity to have a meal prepared by a Polish grandmother, you know exactly what I mean. Meals such as the one below are intended to be cooked at home, there is just something about them that cannot be replicated in a restaurant.

Feel Free To Add Some New Ingredients

Sure, one of the best parts about this recipe is the fact that it uses so few ingredients. However, that does not mean that you cannot make it better by adding a few of your own favorite Keto elements. Here are a few options of ingredients that you can add to this stew:

  • Ground beef
  • Carrot
  • Celery
  • Garlic
  • Marjoram
