Keto Oven Baked Steak with Garlic Thyme Portabella Mushrooms

Juicy steak and mushrooms, yes please!


Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons of olive oil (30 ml)
  • 4 portabella mushrooms (300 g)
  • 46 sprigs of thyme with the leaves removed
  • 2 beef filet mignons (400 g) (or choose another steak)
  • 1 Tablespoon of garlic powder (10 g)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 320°F  (160°C).
  2. Place the portabella mushrooms on a greased roasting tray and drizzle a tablespoon of olive oil over it. Sprinkle the garlic powder evenly over all four and scatter over the picked thyme leaves. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper and place in the oven for 15 minutes. (When done, tip them to one side to allow excess moisture to run off.)
  3. Season the steaks with salt.
  4. Add one tablespoon olive oil to a large frying pan and sear both sides of the steaks so that a golden crust forms on all sides.  Place the steaks on a rimmed baking tray and place into the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes until the center of the steak reaches 130 F for medium rare or 140 F for medium.  Rest for 10 minutes before serving.
