But make sure you buy high-quality bacon…

Dr. John Salerno, M.D. offers tips for buying high-quality bacon:

“When purchasing bacon, make sure you read the ingredients. Look for bacon that has a natural ingredient list, which should look something like this: pork, celery powder, cane sugar, sea salt, and spices. Stay away from brands that have added nitrites, dextrose, soy lecithin, or sodium phosphate listed on its label.”

Can you eat bacon on a low carb diet?

Yes, for sure! You can eat bacon on a low carb, Paleo, or Keto diet. As always with prepackaged foods, check the label for any non-Keto ingredients like added sugars, food colorings, and preservatives.
Bacon is cured, so you’ll often find sugar as well as nitrites added to create the bacon flavor we love. Pick a sugar-free brand if possible like the bacon from Butcher Box or US Wellness Meats.

Do bacon and eggs have carbs?

No, bacon and eggs don’t have carbs unless there’s sugar in the bacon. So you can enjoy your bacon and eggs on a Keto diet guilt-free.

Calories and Carbs in Bacon

Bacon is made from pork and depending on the brand and the type, it can come with some sugar or carbs in it. Sugar is often added into the curing process. So look for a sugar-free bacon brand like those suggested above.

Different bacon brands will have different nutritional data, but here’s what it should look like.

One thick raw slice of bacon (1 oz or 28 g) contains:

  • 128 calories,
  • 3.2 grams of protein,
  • 12.6 grams of fat,
  • 0.2 grams of carbs.

Calories and Carbs in Eggs

Eggs have zero carbs. One large egg (raw) contains:

  • 71 calories,
  • 6.3 grams of protein,
  • 5 grams of fat,
  • 0.4 grams of carbs.

One small egg contains:

  • 54 calories,
  • 4.8 grams of protein,
  • 3.8 grams of fat,
  • 0.3 grams of carbs.

How many calories are in 2 eggs and 2 pieces of bacon?

There are 400 calories in 2 eggs and 2 slices of bacon. There are 19 grams of protein, 35 grams of fat, and 1.2 grams of carbohydrates.

This assumes you’re eating 2 large eggs with 2 thick slices of bacon. The eggs are boiled or cooked in that same bacon fat so no additional cooking oils are used. If you scramble or fry the eggs in an additional cooking fat, then you’ll need to add those calories in as well. 1 Tablespoon of cooking oil contains 120 calories with 14 grams of fat.
